ABOUT ME
Filmmaker-Photographer-Writer
My name is Maximilian Monson and I am a multi-media artist currently based in the Pacific Northwest of North America. My main areas of interest are film, writing and photography.
Film for me is a way to tell a story in its most complete form. In what other way can you convey the feel of space and emotion? With the exception of smell and touch, film puts me in control of every sense in my story. Through the lens of a camera I can shape the world the viewer witnesses and hopefully change their outlook.

As a writer, I often pair my words with images, writing about my experiences. Writing allows me to view the world with wonder. Searching for a string of words that communicates the boiling, glowing, living feeling that lives in my gut as I traverse a forgotten logging road is
one of the things I live for.
Photography is my truest joy. Above all else I love to experience and capture new things. I rarely go to the same place twice and my camera has taught me a kind of intimacy with environment. Looking through the viewfinder has taught me how to not only understand a mountain range and its majesty, but also waving grass and its artistry. The world demands to be understood and somehow, I come to understand it through the lens of my camera.

When I'm not embroiled in these, I'm either hiking, reading a good book, or diving into history. I appreciate you taking the time to read this and explore my site. I hope you enjoy my work, and keep me in mind if you ever need assistance in yours.
Sincerely,
Maximilian Monson
